This year we spent time with my family in NYC. We had an eventful Thanksgiving full of the laughter and drama in true PR style ; ) We loved seeing Titi Nellie and my mom, who with the help of Kevin cooked a fantastic traditional Puerto Rican dinner full of Turkey, Pernil, ham, arroz con gandules, sweet potatoes, Picadillo, salad and pies!
We woke up early that morning to catch our 6am flight to Newark, NJ after spending the night at the Courtyard near DFW airport. We checked into our hotel - the Embassy Suites NYC Financial District at 1pm and headed straight to the Bronx from there. Lisa, her boyfriend, Marc, Rocky, his son Justin and daughter Sinovia, Kevin, his son Alex and friend Carlos, Nellie, Raul, Mom and of course my family enjoyed a yummy dinner and Miki and Michael joined us later that evening.
What was supposed to be a sisters Friday ended up being an excursion to find Raymond sneakers in Union Square. We enjoyed a nice lunch at Cosi and spent the day window shopping - the black friday sales were horrible in the city. (Wish I was shopping with Krystal and Nora and getting those great deals!) We then headed to Staten Island and checked into the Hampton Inn & Suites Staten Island where Curtis took a nap because he had a headache. Off to Timmy's after Curtis woke up and MapQuest sent me in the wrong direction (to say the least I was frustrated because it was 9:30 at night!). Miki and Timmy came to our location to take us to Timmy's. Timmy and Rose have a very nice house in Staten Island - I am very proud of my baby cousin who has really made a big change in his life.
Saturday we woke up late and had a fabulous breakfast at IHOP. We were supposed to meet up with my Titi Virginia and cousin Judy at 3:30p but of course in the Perez world you wait on them! So we hit the sites, we took the ferry into Manhattan and walked around Battery Park. Jason and Curtis took a picture with the Bull in the financial district and we walked all the way past the World Trade Center and hopped on a train to Times Square. We took some pics at time square and headed to Rockefeller Center where we tool more lovely pics - unfortunately the tree wouldn't be lit until this week - but still spectacular!
We had an extremely late dinner with my aunt, cousin, Lisa and Raymond at the Hard Rock Cafe Times Square. Yummy food - slow service - however the kids were tired and starting to get cranky. We hit the road at 11:00 to take the train to the Ferry to be told that all trains stopping at the ferry were suspended for the night and we had to walk 5 blocks with 3 cranky kids to the ferry. We made it back to the hotel by 12:30 to be up at 4am to catch our 6am flight back home!
Though we love and miss our family, we were happy to be home! We all took super long naps and had pizza for dinner! What an adventure! We hope all of our friends and family had a blessed Thanksgiving and that you were able to share the day with loved ones! Besos!
Janet and the Fam!
